There is no standard, so here are the numbers
Small, medium and large mean nothing on their own. There is no British Standard for menswear sizing — every brand decides for itself, which is why a medium from one label fits and a medium from another does not.
So rather than ask you to trust our letters, here are the actual measurements of the garment. Measure a jacket you already own and like, compare it to the table, and you will get this right first time.
How to measure
Lay a jacket you own flat, zipped, on a table. Smooth it out. Then measure across, not around.

All our figures are flat, half-body measurements — so a 56cm chest is a 112cm garment circumference. Add 8–12cm to your own chest measurement for comfortable wearing ease over a shirt.

Cropped styles run 6cm shorter in the body than the lengths above.
If a jacket does not match these figures
These are the measurements we specify to our maker, with a ±1cm tolerance. If a jacket you receive falls outside that tolerance, tell us — we will exchange or refund it and cover postage both ways. Publishing measurements is only useful if we stand behind them.
Free length adjustment
Sleeve and body length are the two things most often wrong on a jacket that otherwise fits, so we adjust either by −3cm or +3cm at no charge. Choose at checkout.
If you are between sizes, take the larger and shorten the sleeve. That works far better than sizing down and hoping.
Made to Measure
If none of the above quite works, we cut to your own twelve measurements for +£90. You send us the numbers, we confirm them back to you in writing before anything is cut, and the jacket is made to fit you specifically.
Made to Measure takes 6–8 weeks and is non-returnable, because it is made to your measurements and cannot be sold to anyone else. We would rather say that plainly than hide it in the small print.
